از لامپ‌های حالت جامد است که از تکنولوژی دیود نورافشان استفاده می‌کند و به عنوان منبع روشنایی به کار می‌رود. این لامپ‌ها که در ابتدا بیشتر به عنوان یک چراغ قرمز رنگ در درون دستگاه‌های الکترونیکی کاربرد داشتند، با توجه به مصرف برق کم نسبت به سایر لامپ‌ها، عمر بسیار بالا و فناوری جدید ساخت به رنگ‌های دیگر توانسته‌اند جای خود را در صنعت روشنایی در دنیا باز کنند.
LED مخفف کلمات Light emitting diode است معنی دیود ساطع کننده نور را می‌دهد. دیودهای ساطع کننده نور در واقع جزء خانواده دیودها هستند که دیودها نیز زیر گروه نیمه هادی‌ها به شمار می‌آیند. خاصیتی که LEDها را از سایر نیمه‌هادیها متمایز می‌کند این است که با گذر جریان از آنها مقداری انرژی به صورت نور ازآنها ساطع می‌شود.
وقتی LEDها به بازار آمدند مردم کمتر از آنها در خانه‌هایشان استفاده می کردند زیرا رنگ نور این نوع چراغ‌ها سفید متمایل به آبی بود. امروز این مسئله به کلی تغییر کرده است. توسعه تکنولوژی که باعث تولید LEDهایی شده است که می‌توانند نورهای گرم و زرد تولید کنند باعث شده است که بسیاری از مالکان استفاده از این نوع چراغ‌ها را در خانه خود ترجیح دهند.
اگرچه قیمت آنها از لامپ‌های سنتی بیشتر است، اما مصرف کم آنها، دوام بیشتر، و کیفیت نوری بهتر این قیمت بیشتر را در قبض‌های برق جبران می‌کند.
LEDها تا ۲۵۰۰۰ ساعت کار می‌کنند و ۷۵ درصد انرژی کم‌تری نسبت به لامپ‌های سنتی مصرف می‌کنند. اما بهترین ویژگی این نوع چراغ‌ها تطبیق‌پذیری آن‌هاست. LEDها نورهای مختلفی تولید می‌کنند، از گرم و ملایم گرفته تا ترد و خنک، و در طرح‌های مختلفی تولید می‌شوند که به شما این امکان را می‌دهد که بتوانید نورپردازی درستی در خانه خود داشته باشید.
