A multiple-ring shaped metal-insulator-metal (MIM) plasmonic waveguide is proposed and the transmission characteristic is investigated using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The results show that the proposed structure has typical filtering function and the electromagnetic wave energy of different wavelengths can be trapped in different insulator rings. The resonance theory is employed to analyze the trapping phenomenon successfully. This kind of multiple-ring shaped MIM waveguide may useful for plasmonic designs.
