آماد یا لجستیک یعنی مدیریت جریان کالا، اطلاعات و یا هر نوع منابع دیگر؛ مانند انرژی یا انسانها بین محل تولید یا محل موجودی تا نقطه مصرف یا مورد نیاز برای برآورده کردن نیازهای مصرفی ( معمولاً در سازمانهای نظامی). لجستیک هنر و علم به دست آوردن تولید، توزیع مواد و محصول در مکان مناسب و در مقدار مناسب است. لجستیک شامل یکپارچهسازی اطلاعات، حمل و نقل، موجودی کالا، انبارداری، جابهجایی کالا و بسته بندی و در مواردی نیز شامل امنیت نیز میشود. لجستیک قسمتی از زنجیره تامین است که ارزش زمان و مکان را به آن میافزاید. لجستیک به کلیه فعالیتهای هماهنگی اطلاق میشود که جهت بررسی، تحقیق، مطالعه و براورد نیازها و احتیاجات اولیه در زمینه وسایل و تجهیزات، ماشینها و ابزارآلات، تاسیسات و قطعات از هر نوع و کلیه امور مربوط به تهیه، تولید، بیمه، نگهداری، انبارداری، توزیع، حمل و نقل، تنظیم و تهیه روش انجام کار، طراحی سیستم و دستور العمل و نظارت بر موارد فوق انجام میگیرد. مدیریت لجستیک بعنوان نقشی در زنجیره تامین است که وظیفهدار طراحی، نحوه اجرا، کنترل و افزایش بهره وری کلیه فرایندهای مرتبط با ذخیرهسازی کالا و جریانهای جلو برنده و یا عقب رونده موثر، ارائه سرویسها و یا اطلاعات مرتبط از محل تولید تانقطه مصرف به طوریکه نیازهای مشتریان را بر آورده سازد، میباشد.
