الگوریتم ژنتیک (GA) یک تکنیک جستجو در علم رایانه برای یافتن راه حل بهینه و مسائل جستجو است. الگوریتمهای ژنتیک یکی از انواع الگوریتمهای تکاملی‌اند که از علم زیست‌شناسی مثل وراثت، جهش، [انتخاب ناگهانی(زیست‌شناسی)]، انتخاب طبیعی و ترکیب الهام گرفته شده است. الگوریتم ژنتیک که به‌عنوان یکی از روشهای تصادفی بهینه یابی شناخته شده, توسط جان هالند در سال ۱۹۶۷ ابداع شده‌است. در واقع الگوریتمهای ژنتیک از اصول انتخاب طبیعی داروین برای یافتن فرمول بهینه جهت پیش‌بینی یا تطبیق الگو استفاده می‌کنند. کاربرد اصلی الگوریتم ژنتیک در کامپیوتر است. اما روشهای الگوریتم ژنتیک در مهندسی صنایع، برنامه‌ریزی تولید، مدیریت تولید، مدیریت فناوری اطلاعات و مدیریت صنعتی نیز قابل استفاده است. از الگوریتم ژنتیک می‌توان در مدیریت بازاریابی نیز استفاده کرد. برای نمونه استفاده از الگوریتم ژنتیک در بهینه سازی درختان تصمیم گیری برای اعتبارسنجی مشتریان بانکها یکی از موارد کاربرد الگوریتم ژنتیک در مدیریت بازاریابی است که می‌تواند برای پایان نامه استفاده شود.مدلهای برنامه‌ریزی یکپارچه تولید و توزیع نیز با الگوریتم ژنتیک قابل طراحی است.
