فرهنگ سازمانی یکی از جدیدترین واژه های ادبیات مدیریت است که در سالهای اخیر بسیار مورد توجه اندیشمندان و صاحب نظران مدیریت قرار گرفته است. پژوهشگران در زمینۀ فرهنگ سازمانی معتقد هستند که نسبت فرهنگ به سازمان مانند نسبت شخصیت است به فرد. و اعتقاد دارند که برای ایجاد بالندگی در افراد جامعه باید در زمینۀ شخصیتی آنها کاوش صورت گیرد. بر این اساس برای ایجاد بالندگی سازمانی که منجر به بالندگی جامعه می گردد باید در فرهنگ سازمان تحقیق شود. میزان قدرت فرهنگ سازمانی را می توان بر حسب تعداد اعضای متعهد به ارزشهای غالب و میزان تعهد اعضا به ارزشها و هنجارهای غالب سازمان تعیین کرد. در مجموع می توان نتیجه گرفت که فرهنگ سازمانی سیستمی از استنباط و درک مشترک است که اعضای یک سازمان یا نهاد نسبت به آن سازمان دارند و همین ویژگی موجب تفکیک دو سازمان از یکدیگر می شود.
