سیستم های نگهداری و تعمیرات ((( (نت) ﺷﺎﺧﻪاﯼ از رﺷﺘﻪﻣﻬﻨﺪﺳﯽ ﺻﻨﺎﻳﻊ اﺳﺖ ﮐﻪﺑﺎﮐﻨﺘﺮلﺗﺠﻬﻴﺰات و ﻣﺎﺷﻴﻦ ﺁﻻت ﺗﻮﻟﻴﺪﯼ از ﻧﻈﺮ ﺑﺮﻧﺎﻣﻪ زﻣﺎﻧﺒﻨﺪﯼ ﺗﻌﻤﻴﺮاﺗﯽ و ﺗﻌﻮﻳﺾ ﻗﻄﻌﺎت و ﺑﺎ اﺳﺘﻔﺎدﻩ از ﺗﺠﺰﻳﻪ و ﺗﺤﻠﻴﻞ هاﯼ ﺁﻣﺎرﯼ هﺰﻳﻨﻪهﺎﯼ ﺗﻌﻤﻴﺮاﺗﯽ راﮐﺎهﺶ ﻣﯽدهﺪ و در ﺳﻄﺢ ﺑﻬﻴﻨﻪﻧﮕﻪ ﻣﻴﺪارد. فعالیت های نت،می تواند بهینه ترین روش را برای فعالیت های نگهداری و تعمیرات سازمان ها به ویژه سازمان های نظامی ارائه نماید. دامنه مسئله تعریف شده شامل نوع راهبرد سیستم های نگهداری و تعمیرات برنامه ریزی شده در محدوده تمامی صنایع است. حفظ و نگهداری مناسب از تجهیزات و تاسیسات مجتمع که مهمترین سرمایه های هر شرکت میباشد از آغازین روزهای تولید از جمله چالش های فرا روی سازمان است. لذا توسعه ، یکپارچگی و به روز بودن علوم و تکنیک های نگهداری و تعمیرات از الزامات صنایع میباشد. در سالیان گذشته نگهداری و تعمیرات به علت تنوع و پیچیدگی تجهیزات، بیش از هر شاخه دیگر در صنایع گسترش و تغییرات داشته است. هزینه های نگهداری و تعمیرات، در مجموع، بخش عمده ای از هزینه های تولید را در بر می گیرد. با توجه به نوع صنعت مورد بررسی، این هزینه چیزی حدود ۱۵ تا ۶۰ درصد هزینه محصول تولید شده را در بر می گیرد. تحقیقات نشان داده است که حدود ۳۳ سنت از هر دلار که برای فعالیت های نگهداری و تعمیرات هزینه می شود، مربوط به فعالیت های غیر ضروری در حوزه نگهداری و تعمیرات می باشد این در حالی است که صنایع آمریکا سالانه حدود ۲۰۰ بیلیون دلار برای نگهداری و تعمیرات تجهیزات خود هزینه می نمایند. این بدان معنی است که مدیریت صحیح فرآیند نگهداری و تعمیرات، سالانه، ۶۰ بیلیون دلار صرفه جویی در این حوزه را به همراه خواهد داشت. ژاپنی ها با درک اهمیت ویژه ای که در مدیریت فرآیند نگهداری و تعمیرات در سیستم های تولیدی احساس می کردند، اقدام به طراحی سیستم های مختلف نگهداری و تعمیرات، از جمله TPM نمودند و آن را به عنوان یکی از زیر سیستم های سه گانه تولید ناب به جهان معرفی نمودند.
