امنیت شغلی،این است که شخصی بتواند شغل خود را حفظ کند و احتمال بیکار شدن شخص بسیار پایین باشد . این مهم وابسته به فاکتورهای اقتصادی،موقعیت تجاری و مهارت های شخصی فرد شاغل است . امنیت شغلی موافق چرخه تجاری عمل می کند به این صورت که در رونق اقتصادی افزایش می یابد و در رکود ها کاهش خواهد داشت .البته عوامل شخصی زیادی را می توان مؤثر بر اهمیت شغلی دانست ؛ از جمله تحصیلات ، سابقة کار ،موقعیت شغلی و . . . در واقع نیروی کار باید بتواند خود را به سرعت با شرایط وفق داده یا به اصطلاح کاملاً به روز باشد .امنیت شغلی پروسه یا روندی است که میتواند به میزان نامعینی کاراکترهای کار و واحد اشتغال را تهدید کند و یا آن ها را به چالش بکشاند و در زوایای متمایز ناهنجاری بوجود بیاورد .در مفهوم امنیت شغلی موضوعاتی چون تغییرات شغلی ، از دست دادن شغل ، عدم دستیابی به شغل مناسب گنجانده شده است . بنابر اعتقاد روان شناسان صنعتی و سازمانی، امنیت شغلی یکی از عوامل بوجودآورنده رضایت شغلی است . نیازهای تامینی کاملا آشکار و در بین اغلب مردم بسیار متداول اند.همه ما میل داریم از آسیبهای زندگی نظیرتصادف ، جنگها، امراض ، و بی ثباتی اقتصادی وشغلی در امان باشیم . از این رو افراد و سازمانهاعلاقه مندند که تا اندازه ای اطمینان فراهم کنند که از این قبیل فاجعه ها حتی الامکان مصون خواهند بود.مؤلفه های مفهوم امنیت شغلی :
