افراد و شخصیت های کمال گرا بیشترین متقاضیان اعمال جراحی زیبایی بینی هستند که بخش عمده ای از نارضایتی پس از عمل جراحی مربوط به این افراد است .عمل جراحی زیبایی گاهی یک امر ضروری تلقی میشود.مثل افرادی که دچار سوختگی و یا تصادف و مواجه شدن با بد شکلی جسمی میشوند و نیز افرادی که مادرزادی دچار بد شکلی جسمی هستند. اما افراد زیادی هستند که بدون بد شکلی بدن و خصوصا بینی،به عمل جراحی بینی و سایر اجزاء بدن روی می آورند. این افراد از وضع ظاهری خود راضی نیستند و احتمالا از خود-پنداره و خود-تصویری پایینی برخوردارند و دچار“اختلال بد شکلی جسمانی هستند(منظور افرادی است که بدون مشکل ظاهری به جراحی زیبایی روی می آورند). این افراد به جای مراجعه به پزشکهای مربوطه که اغلب همه مراجعین را برای پر کردن جیب خود تحت عمل جراحی قرار میدهند،برای درمان روحی خود باید به یک روانشناس مراجعه نمایند و مورد رواندرمانی قرار گیرند.در صورت تایید روانشناس که فرد مربوطه دچار بیماری بادی دیسمورفیک و یا سایر ناراحتیهای روانی نباشد و عمل جراحی ضروری باشد،به آن اقدام نمایند.
