آشنایی با موضوع
مفهومی است بیانگر بکارگیری فناوری های اطلاعاتی و ارتباطی در فرآیند آموزش . به عبارت دیگر محتوای دورۀ آموزشی با استفاده از انتقال متن، صدا و تصویر به فراگیر ارائه می شود تا با بهره گیری از ارتباط دو سویه بین فراگیران و اساتید یا بین خود فراگیران، برگزاری دوره های آموزشی در بالاترین سطح از هر مکان و در هر زمانی میسر شود.

در آموزش همزمان همۀ کاربران به طور مستقیم از طریق ابزارهای فناوری مانند چت، ویدیوکنفرانس و فضاهای کلاس مجازی با یکدیگر در ارتباطند ، در حالی که در آموزش ناهمزمان، مانند ارتباط از طریق محتوا، انجمن ها، تکالیف، پست الکترونیکی، ارتباط آموزشی با تاخیر برقرار می شود .
