شرکت چند ملیتی (Multinational Corporation). شرکتی که به منظور گسترش فعالیت خود در سراسر جهان و سرمایه‌گذاری در قطبهای صنعتی کشورهای در حال توسعه و استفاده از امکانات این قبیل کشورها، در کشورهای مختلف و متعدد اقدام به تأسیس یک شرکت فرعی (یعنی شرکتی که قسمت اعظم سهامش متعلق به شرکت اصلی است) می‌کند. در شرکتهای چند ملیتی، شرکت مادر یا شرکت اصلی، تابعیت کشور محل ثبت خود را دارد و شرکتهای فرعی هر کدام، تابعیت کشور محل ثبت خود را دارند، مثل کوکاکولا. شرکتهای فرعی، مجری نظریات اقتصادی و مدیریت متمرکز اصلی می‌باشند. شرکتهای چند ملیتی در حال حاضر به غولهای بزرگ اقتصادی و سیاسی تبدیل شده‌اند و چنان در کشورهای متعدد ریشه دوانده‌اند که تعیین ملیت و تعلق آنها به این و یا آن کشور، چندان آسان نیست. چند ملیتی‌ها که وابسته به سرمایه انحصاری جهانی می‌باشند در عین حال سعی می‌کنند تحت نظارت قدرت سیاسی هیچ کشوری نباشند. گسترش سریع شرکتهای چند ملیتی در سراسر جهان، سبب گردیده تا بسیاری از صاحبنظران اقتصادی، توسعه اقتصادی آینده جهان را متاثر از فعالیت این شرکت‌ها بدانند و پیش‌بینی صحیح از آینده اقتصاد جهانی را بدون شناخت کافی از نوع و چگونگی فعالیت شرکتهای چند ملیتی را، امری عبث و بیهوده بپندارند؛ چرا که شرکتهای چند ملیتی نقش مهمی را در رشد جهانی شدن اقتصاد بازی می‌کنند. آنها حجم و اندازه تجارت جهانی را تحت‌تاثیر قرار داده و مسوول اصلی افزایش سریع سرمایه‌گذاری مستقیم خارجی هستند. با توجه به جهانی شدن اقتصاد اعتقاد بر این است که شرکتهای چند ملیتی بزرگ‌تر شده و کسب سود و تملک دارایی‌ها و ادغام آنها افزایش یافته ونیز نقش گسترده‌ای در اقتصاد بین‌الملل داشته باشند.
